Cadila Healthcare gets DCGI nod to conduct phase III trials for two-dose Covid vaccine
Drug firm Cadila Healthcare on Tuesday said it has received permission from the Indian drug regulator for conducting phase III trials for its two-dose Covid-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D.The company has already received the emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for ZyCoV-D to be administered in three doses on August 20.

Russia records 25,110 Covid-19 cases in past 24 hours
Russia recorded 25,110 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, down from 25,781 the day before, bringing the cumulative total to 7,637,427, the federal response center said on Tuesday. "Over the past day, 25,110 Covid-19 cases were confirmed across 85 Russian regions, including 2,110 cases (8.4%) without clinical symptoms," the center said, adding that the rate of increase fell to 0.33%. Moscow has the highest number of new cases with 3,827 daily infections, down from 4,410 the day before. The Russian capital is followed by St. Petersburg with 1,894 cases, down from 2,198, and the Moscow region with 1,788 cases, up from 1,733.

A Covid-19 vaccine requirement for teachers and other staff members took effect Monday in New York City's million-plus-student public school system, in a key test of the employee vaccination mandates being rolled out across the country. The city had planned to bring in substitutes where needed, with Mayor Bill de Blasio warning that unvaccinated school employees would be placed on unpaid leave. But 95% of the city's roughly 148,000 public school staffers had received at least one vaccine dose as of Monday morning, including 96% of teachers and 99% of principals, de Blasio said.
Pakistan confirms 1,308 new Covid-19 cases, 54 more deaths
Pakistan on Monday confirmed 1,308 new Covid-19 cases and 54 more deaths, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said on Tuesday. The NCOC, a department leading campaign against the pandemic, said that the country's number of overall confirmed cases had risen to 1,252,656, including 1,178,883 recoveries.

India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 2020, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. UP first state to administer over 11cr jabs
UP on Monday become the first state to have administered over 11 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine. As per data from the CoWin portal updated till 9 pm, the total number of doses administered in Uttar Pradesh was 11.07 crore. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath lauded the health workers for putting in their best foot forward. In terms of people, around 8.8 crore people have taken first dose while 2.2 crore people have taken both doses. In all, 32 districts in the state have been able to administer over 15 lakh doses. ZyCoV-D trials: ‘No fever, fatigue in adolescents’
Some of the common side-effects of the Covid vaccine — redness or soreness at the site of vaccination and low-grade fever/fatigue within 24 to 48 hours post-immunisation — were not observed in the advanced trials of ZyCoV-D vaccine among adolescents in Pune. None of the 47 adolescents receiving the threedose needle-free intra-dermal vaccine at Dr DY Patil Medical College and Hospital as part of the countrywide trials complained of these commonly seen sideeffects, trial researchers told TOI ahead of ZyCoVD’s rollout this month.
